The Borgo belongs to a local noble family, the Mancinis, whose history is
closely linked to that of the city and the region itself.In his most famous family tree is Girolamo Mancini, a scholar and patriot together with Garibaldi in 1860 and 1866.He is the author of memorable biographies: "The life of Luca Signorelli", "The life of Lorenzo Valla", "The life of Leon Battista Alberti", and of exhaustive studies such as "Cortona in the Middle Ages" and "Cortonese Writers and Codes ".Gonfaloniere of Cortona, Member of the Italian Parliament, Head Librarian and "Lucumone" of the Etruscan Academy.In 1881 he was founder of the Banca Popolare di Cortona.A historical figure of Cortona, its legend adds to the charm of Borgo Il Melone.
The Borgo was an agricultural settlement adjacent to the main villa, the
Orangerie, the farm, 3 farmhouses with additional houses for the workers,
barns and warehouses, wine and oil cellars.
Since the 1960s, with the end of the sharecropping era, buildings have lost theirs
purpose and remained unused until the 1980s, with the exception of the main historic villa.
For this reason, the owner decided to restore the resort by refraining from the effects of time and renovating all the external buildings to their original beauty.
The property stands on a plot of 90,000 square meters (9ha), of which about 4ha are
dedicated to a garden of roses and local essences.

It also has a private chapel, where, today, it is possible to set it up for ceremonies.
