Property Description
On the top part of the village of Houmeriakos (just a few minutes drive from the town of Neapolis) this unique renovation site consists of 3 old houses on 488sq meters of land.
The buildings are old stone houses with the traditional Cretan kamara arches that are popular in this area of Crete.
All three houses have small garden areas in front of them.
The larger ground floor building is 88sq meters and consists of 3 rooms and a ruin that was once part of the house. This building can be made in to a 2 bedroom house.
This house was connected to electricity at some point as there is a fuse box.
A few meters from this house is a detached 22sq meter building that can be made into a guest bedroom with a kitchenette and bathroom.
To the right of these two buildings is a 28sq meters building that can be made into a one bedroom house.
It is possible to build one more floor on top of the existing buildings.
Electricity and water are very near to this property and can easilly be installed.
The views of the surrounding mountains and the village are wonderful.
The closest beaches are in Agios Nikolaos (8,5 kilometers-about an 8 minute drive)
The international airport of Heraklion is about 40 minutes from Houmeriakos (58km).
Agios Nikolaos is the capital of the county Lasithi and is located at the Mirabello Bay, north-east Crete, only 50mins away from the international airport of Heraklion.
Geographically the town is well protected from strong winds allowing sea sports and swimming nearly all year round.
Although Agios Nikolaos has a population of less than 20,000 it has a several banks, supermarkets, shops of every kind, doctors, a modern hospital of high standard, public swimming pool and tennis courts, yacht marina, harbour, cinema, theatre, gyms, a 9-hole golf course, schools ranging from nurseries to 6-level high school and generally all the amenities you would expect to find in a large modern European town.
The microclimate is one of the best in Greece and the moderate temperatures rarely exceed 30c in summer or fall below 15c in wintertime. This wonderful dry climate together with the natural beauty of the area has attracted most of the high class hotels of Greece to operate here.
