Property Description
SAN MARCELLO PISTOIESE How nice when you meet people who love their home!
You understand it immediately as soon as you see it and above all when you enter the house and you realize that nothing is out of place, everything is tidy and bright and you are immediately struck by that clean smell, the shiny floors, the attention to every detail.Everything is precise and perfect.
I like!
Today I went to Tuscany, to San Marcello Pistoiese, about 700m above sea level, 21km from the Abetone ski slopes, 34km from Pistoia and 77km from the sea of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi (calculated with google maps).San Marcello has always been a tourist town known as a mountain health resort. It is a very typical and characteristic village of the Tuscan Apennines which hides among its valleys a very long and very exciting suspension bridge and an important telescope used as an astronomical observatory.
The house I'm telling you about today is not just a house but one of the three villas that Admiral Lodolo had built in the early 1900s to host his friends on hot summer days.Think what a welcome!
Although it is right in the center of San Marcello, it is not easy to find this villa: you have to cross the center of the village and enter through a large gate and then take the whole "serpentine" road that crosses the garden of the house (which is more of a park than a garden) and which, going up, creates two flat spaces furnished with fountain chairs and tables.
The villa is there at the top of the road, a thick hedge separates it from everything, then the lawn, the cedars of Lebanon and the terrace in front of the entrance door with two symmetrical rows of stairs delimited by white stone columns and the door to 'entrance.
I'll tell you about the interior later, now I'll describe the exterior.
The house is the classic villa with a square plan arranged over three and a half floors, the external geometry is characterized by the symmetry of both the building and the garden typical of the period of construction. The part of the garden around the house is flat, it can be reached not only by the road to the side, but also by walking along a stairway bordered by hedges and columns that leads right to the center of the house: I climb the stairway, it slowly opens up before the prospectus of the house and then the garden all around.
Garden with important and symmetrical trees furnished with stone elements, Art Nouveau concrete statues and wrought iron chairs and tables painted white.
On the left side of the house, where the access road arrives, there is a second building which once housed the servants and which today is home to the wood-burning boiler which feeds the villa's underfloor heating.
To the rear of the house is a sloping lawn area with a walk between flat areas and fruit trees.
From every part of the garden you can see the roofs that draw the skyline of the town, the rolling Tuscan hills and beyond the Tyrrhenian Sea...
If the garden is beautiful, the house inside is wonderful.
Arranged on two floors of the main house plus a floor of underground cellars and an attic which is a second attic apartment, on the entrance floor there are the living room with dining room and fireplace, the study, the very modern kitchen with wood, the bathroom, and the laundry room, upstairs there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Above again is the attic apartment.
All the views are on the private garden.
Honestly, I struggle a lot to tell you about the whole house, the vastness of its spaces and the beauty of the rooms, I think the best thing is to admire the photographs I took...
Good vision!
