Property Description
Taken from the sardegnaturismo site
It stretches over a fertile territory, from which excellent products such as citrus fruit are produced, and dotted with prehistoric sites and industrial archeology. San Vito is a town of just under four thousand inhabitants of the Sarrabus, very tied to the traditions, of which the splendid ancient San Vitese costume is witness. In the Middle Ages the center was part of the Giudicati, before Cagliari then Gallura, passing later to Pisa, and finally it was conquered by the Aragonese. Starting from the second half of the nineteenth century, along the silvery strand of the Sarrabus-Gerrei - the second area by extension of the Geomineral park of Sardinia - mining began: there were a dozen mining sites that constituted the 'via dell'Argento'. At the beginning of the 20th century, more than 1500 miners worked there, two thirds in the only mine of Mount Narba. Inside the civic building of San Vito, the La Via Dell'Argento museum documents history and mining life through oral sources, documents, photographs and work objects. In the built-up area you should also visit the churches of San Vito, patron saint of the town, of San Lussorio, of Santa Maria and of Sant'Antioco. In the hamlet of San Priamo rises a sanctuary of the XIII century, characterized, inside, by a domu de Janas from which a spring gushes from the waters, by tradition, "miraculous". Near the church stands the nuraghe Asoro.
